These are the incredibly talented and dedicated students that make Southern News what it is. They consistently strive to find and report the truth and their hard work is reflected in every issue. To say that these individuals are extremely gifted would be an understatement. Congratulations to Patty Maturo, Kevon Jabar Goodrum, and Mark Prokop on the honors that they have received this semester. Special recognition
goes out to those staff members who will be leaving at the end of this semester: Brian Laudano, Patty Maturo, Mike Levy, Nick Greene and Kevon Jabarr Goodrum.

Rasheen Nicholson blasted a ball with a powerful kick in a kickball game during Hall Olympics. West Campus defended
its title by winning its second consecutive championship.

Students expressed words of comfort and sorrow on cards last week after a tribute to those who were slain in the
Virginia Tech massacre.

Megan Brennan, president of the Habitat For Humanity Club at Southern, along with other members, posted dummies
in front of Conn Hall and Buley Library during Act!, Speak!, Build! week which ran through April 16-22.
The week was aimed at building awareness about poverty and taking action throughout the community.

Jeremy Sonnier, a Louisiana native, stirred up a lot of controversy and angered many students with a sign stating
that specific groups of people would be judged by God.

Tristan Jones, along with fellow SCSU students and guests from Cooperative Arts High School, staged a silent protest last
Wednesday against using the "N" word and other derogatory terms.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal discussed the GI Bill during a press conference on Monday.

Musicians performed songs of tribute to the millions of Jews killed during the Holocaust which occured over 60 years ago.
